How this edition was made
Sweep window: about 6 AM PT on Oct 27 to 6 AM PT on Oct 28, 2026. Sources searched: the X posts gathered for this edition (each opened by ID and its text and counts re-read), YouTube search (uploads from the last day), GitHub trending (daily) and the GitHub search and repository pages, Hugging Face trending and newest uploads, Product Hunt, Hacker News, the public top-of-day feeds for r/StableDiffusion and r/aivideo (r/comfyui, r/ClaudeAI, r/blender and r/singularity blocked our tools, so they are not covered), and web search for blogs and news. Every link was checked live on Oct 28. Engagement numbers are public counts at that moment and will change; GitHub star counts are missing on a few cards where the API limit was reached. Reddit feeds don't include vote counts, so no Reddit numbers appear here. Repeats from earlier editions appear only in the updates section, with what changed.
Control and speed, from the open side
A common complaint about image models is that you can describe a scene but not place things in it. Layout control is the answer both MOSS-Image and now Krea 2 are giving. The Krea 2 author says training reached epoch 20 and released Raw and Turbo BBOX checkpoints plus LoRAs at three ranks, and another user's first comparison finds MOSS more accurate on placement, while calling the rest subjective. Separately, a hand-checked test of 131 MOSS-Image images suggests planned text and layout work better than one-line prompts, on a small sample from a hosted endpoint.
Speed was the other thread. Pruna's 6-step adapters for Qwen-Image 2.1 and the pruned Flux2 Klein loader both promise the same output for less waiting or memory, and the Relay Hires README times a 1920 clip at 119 seconds against 503 for a native render. Those numbers come from the makers' own machines, so treat them as directions rather than benchmarks.
Agents as a studio crew
The X posts gathered for this edition clustered around Claude Code as a creative workbench. One list of 28 tools sorts animation engines, renderers, UI components, audio and MCP connectors, and suggests starting with one engine and one renderer. A roundup of seven projects pointed to img2threejs, which rebuilds the object in a photo as editable Three.js code, and the repo has passed 19,000 stars. A Meta ads pipeline in Claude puts the AI spend at about $3 to $7 per ad, self-reported.
Code-made video is getting its own habits. David Pertiller wrote a 15-second ad as a JavaScript function with unit tests, SenseTime open-sourced a model that writes video as code, and a fact-checked paper-to-explainer skill ties each on-screen number to a source. The common idea is that an editable file beats a baked clip when you need to revise.
Genie 4 keeps the room
Google DeepMind's Genie 4 was our subject yesterday and is still the loudest story: 940 points and 543 comments on Hacker News and 339,382 views on the launch video. DeepMind's post describes a research preview for trusted testers, with Ultra and API access to follow, and still lists drift in visual detail and object permanence as an open problem.
What to watch
The conversation on X was mostly small, so we kept it small: a few users dislike the Claude Code redesign, one wants Claude Design merged into it, and a question about vibe-coding to save $20 a month drew the most replies. The more useful signal is in what people built: layout, reference and speed tools that make existing open models easier to direct.
Tell us what to dig into next: reply with a medium, a tool or a question and we'll steer tomorrow's sweep toward it.
