MacH3 Metal: MiniMax H3 running natively on Apple silicon in ComfyUI (r/comfyui)

A ComfyUI node pack that wraps antirez's native C and Metal engine for H3, with text-to-video, first and last frame, reference modes and a "continue" mode that starts the next take from the last 22 frames. The author reports 3:25 for a 3-second clip at 0.5 MP in Speed mode on a 48 GB M5 Pro and about 4x faster per step than the PyTorch route.

How to start clone the node pack, load the Speed workflow and render one 3-second clip.

The big story

Free speed for the GPUs people already own kept spreading overnight. gpu-unlock, the Linux kernel module that lets RTX 30-series cards run FP16/BF16 math at twice the issue rate, has passed 4,700 stars, up from about 3,150 on Saturday evening. By Saturday night developers had published a port for Turing cards and a research repo, KohakUnlock, that says plainly it is not a universal unlocker and can hang or damage hardware. A community page now collects 18 measured ComfyUI timings, though its maintainer says they haven't tested the hardware themselves.

The software side moved too. MacH3 Metal runs MiniMax H3 video natively on Apple silicon through ComfyUI nodes, and MOSS-Image picked up native 4-megapixel tests, a character LoRA recipe and HQ edit support. It is a Sunday, so lab accounts were quiet; most of today's items come from builders and community threads.

MOSS-Image at native 4MP (r/comfyui)

First-try raw outputs with no cherry-picking, about 25 s per image on an RTX PRO 6000 using 16 to 24 GB of VRAM through the official ComfyUI template; it responds well to Krea 2 prompts, but seeds change the composition a lot.

How this edition was made

Sweep window: about 5:40 AM PT on Oct 24 to 6 AM PT on Oct 25, 2026. Items marked ⏪ are a little older (Oct 21–23) and are here because they reached a new audience in this window. Sources searched: X (post lookups by ID), YouTube search (uploads from the last day), GitHub trending (daily and weekly) and the GitHub API, Hugging Face trending models and Spaces, Product Hunt daily leaderboards for Oct 24 and 25, Hacker News, the public top-of-day feeds for r/StableDiffusion, r/comfyui and r/aiArt (the other subreddits rate-limited our tools, so they are not covered), and web search for blogs and news. Every link was checked live on Oct 25. Engagement numbers are public counts at that moment and will change; Weekend lab accounts were quiet, so X coverage is thinner than usual. Reddit feeds don't include vote counts, so no Reddit numbers appear here. Repeats from earlier editions appear only in the updates section, with what changed.

The story of the day

The unlock goes older, and the warnings get louder

gpu-unlock is the rare free upgrade: on supported RTX 30-series cards, FP16/BF16 matrix math that accumulates in FP32 runs at double the issue rate, and public benchmarks showed large BF16 gains on image and video models while INT8 paths barely moved. The new ports show how fast an idea spreads once the trick is known. The Turing port was tested on a single Dell RTX 2080 Ti 22GB and warns that full-speed tensor cores can damage hardware. KohakUnlock documents one VRAM-modified 2080 Ti plus four 3090s and says it can hang a GPU or host. The practical advice is the same as yesterday: use a machine you can recover, and time one workflow before and after.

Video models you can run, and ways to hold them together

MiniMax H3 is turning into a video model that many local users build around. MacH3 Metal lets Mac owners render it natively, with a "continue" mode that starts the next take from the last 22 frames of the previous one. One user fed raw 4MP MOSS-Image frames into a local H3 pipeline and reported good detail and consistency in 3-second clips, and another posted a four-minute music video made with it. On the paid side, the Seedance 2.5 fantasy-dragon trend kept spreading on X, and Higgsfield's own playbook pairs Claude, Seedance 2.5 and its Cinema Studio for fight scenes with consistent characters.

Plan the cutaways before the prompts

The most useful craft tip of the day came with a music video. Because lip sync is still imperfect, the workflow @lmoroney summarised from Mark Soares treats generation like a live shoot: run each prompt at least twice, ask for wide, medium and tight shots plus silhouettes and aerial angles that move to the beat without showing a mouth, and leave the editor room to cut around the rough spots. A smaller version of the same idea shows up in an expand-image workflow that keeps the original photo's pixels and lets the model paint only the new sides. Both treat the model as one step in a pipeline rather than the whole job.

Agents are working in 3D and in code

Several posts handed 3D work to coding agents: Claude Opus 5.5 rebuilt a Gaussian-splat garden in Blender with procedural objects and Geometry Nodes, another creator chained Claude, Blender and Jitter from mockup to rendered UI video, and testers compared Kimi K3.1 Pro with Opus 5.5 and GPT-6.1 Sol on Blender scenes. Outside 3D, a 74-skill pack gives coding agents game-dev know-how for Godot, Unity, Unreal and more, and an eleven-minute film was built entirely from code, with visuals from WebGL shaders and sound synthesised in Python.

The debate is about ownership and taste

The conversation leaned on who gets credit. A 3D artist reacted to TikTok accounts reusing their work, a Hacker News thread of nearly 400 points asked how much of the loss of media, film and arts jobs is down to AI, users on r/StableDiffusion worried that Civitai is moving more LoRAs behind paid Buzz, and the Just Eat menu-photo apology kept circulating as a reminder of what happens when generated images go out unchecked. Meanwhile design skills such as hallmark and impeccable gained over a thousand stars each in a day, which suggests many builders want agents with a stronger sense of taste.

Tell us what to dig into next: reply with a medium, a tool or a question and we'll steer tomorrow's sweep toward it.
